During the August 2011 NY Tech Meetup last night, a drone took flight from the stage, but it wasn’t allowed to fly any higher than where it was in this photograph.  As it turns out, the sprinkler system at New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts detects particles, not fire.  Had the drone gone near the ceiling, attendees would have found themselves in a torrential downpour — indoors.
