The Consortium List Recommends (Week of October 26)

Yes, yes.  Halloween is coming up.  But, what about the rest of the week?  Here are a few ideas:

  • A “special edition” book party for Gary Vaynerchuk in Brooklyn: Tuesday night, 9 PM, The Bell House (There’ll be a “special guest” and an afterparty at Clabo to celebrate the release of Vaynerchuk’s book.)
  • Drinking Club - Period Piece: Tuesday night, 7:30 PM, Shoolbred’s (Sean Captain’s weekly party heads to this Scottish-themed bar.)
  • The Evolution of Media: Wednesday afternoon, 12 PM, The Digital Sandbox Network Event Center (The afternoon begins with a keynote by Mitch Joel of Twist Image which will be followed by presentations from Canadian companies in the digital space.)
  • 92YTribeca Hosts Next to Normal’s Cast and Creative Team: Wednesday night, 7 PM, 92YTribeca (There’ll be music from the Tony-winning Broadway musical Next to Normal, featuring members of the cast and creative team.)
  • Motorola’s Cocktail Reception: Wednesday night, 8 PM (Once again, this is being billed as an “exclusive” event so if you want in, let me know here or here.) (The guest list is closed; apparently, the venue isn’t quite as large as the Seventh Regiment Armory.)
  • Obliterati presents Night Of The Living Dead Media: Thursday night, 6 PM, Destination Bar (Let’s raise the spirits of the those who used to work at the magazines which have recently left us with discounted drinks and hopefully, a Citysearch-sponsored happy hour.)
  • Eat ‘N Tweet Challenge: Thursday, 11 AM, Locations TBD (You need to follow @tiwyf on Twitter and get a shot of yourself eating an item prepared at each treats truck announced.  First one to get photos of themselves eating at each gets a treats-truck party for themself and 25 of their friends.)
  • Digital DUMBO’s Halloween Party: Thursday night, 6:30 PM, Galapagos Art Space (DUMBO’s digital creatives are throwing a costume party with prizes, but don’t fret if you can’t come in one.)
  • Collect DUMBO: Friday night, 6:30 PM, 111 Front Street, DUMBO (Artlog.com is hosting a Halloween-themed art crawl with stops for discounted cocktails and a dance party.)
  • Happy HallowMEME Costume Party: Friday night, 9 PM, Fontana’s (Know Your Meme and Urlesque.com are throwing an Internet-themed costume party on Halloween Eve.)
  • Brunch & Cocktails (Halloween): Saturday afternoon, 12 PM, Cafe 50 West (“Wenches, perverts, courtesans, witches, lushes, badasses, and other delicious creatures are delightfully invited” to Tamir Wolberger’s lovely “Café 50 West” for Halloween brunch festivities in the Flat Iron District.)
  • Mike Daisey presents A Story on Halloween at WNYC: Saturday night, 7 PM, WNYC (Mike Daisey will be recording a story for Halloween and WNYC will be hosting his friends and admirers at their new Greene Space in Manhattan’s TriBeCa neighborhood.)

Given how busy this week is, I don’t think I’ll be accepting any more invites for this week and I’d also like to wish a happy birthday to Andrea Rosen whose “birfday” I’m looking forward to this week.  I’ll also be attending a couple of Halloween parties which aren’t on this list and if you want to know which, e-mail me here.

Hope to see you at one of these!
